Stormy Antarctic

DOB Colour Sex Sire Dam
24/02/2013 Chestnut Gelding Stormy Atlantic Bea Remembered

Owner: Mr P.K. Siu

Purchased for 200,000 gns at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale. This gelding is the first foal out of a winning and Group 3 placed mare from the family of Stakes winners Cheviot Amble & Alalja. He broke his maiden on his third start at Sandown in August as a two year old before going on to win the Haynes Hanson & Clark Conditions Stakes at Newbury in September. He was narrowly denied in his first Group 1 when second beaten a head in the Criterium International at Saint-Cloud that November. He started his 3yo career by winning the Group 3 Craven Stakes at Newmarket in April before unfortunately sustaining an injury in the 2000 Guineas. He was then second in another Group 1, the Prix Jean Prat, in July of that year. 2017 was a frustrating year with him until he was gelded and returned to winning ways in the Listed Prix du Ranelagh at Chantilly in October. Stormy returned in 2018 in flying form winning the Group 3 Prix Edmond Blanc at Saint-Cloud in April & the Group 2 Badener Meile at Baden-Baden as well as finishing second in the Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr Preis at Munich & other placed efforts in Group 2 company.

He started off 2019 in great form winning the Group 3 Kalkmann Fruhjahrs-Meile at Dusseldorf, following that up by flying home to win the Group 2 Premio Presidente della Repubblica at Capannelle in an impressive manner.

As a 7yo Stormy has once again proven his versatility and excellence in 2020. He opened the season finishing 4th in Group 3 Diomed Stakes at Newbury but he really showed his class in the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan at Chantilly in July when 2nd behind the 2019 Poule d'Essai des Poulains winner Persian King.

He is a real flagbearer for us & an absolute pleasure to train, we are extremely lucky to have him.
