Almodovar makes a comeback today

Tonight at Kempton, Almodovar has his first start for for us today having not raced since finishing second to Recoletos in the G1 Prix d’Ispahan at Longchamp in May 2018, when trained by Roger Charlton. He is now an eight-year-old and didn't enjoy retirement so ended up here. He was obviously a very good horse in his day, and we started him back earlier in the year. Brian O’Rourke [pre-trainer] had him for a long time and he started showing him a bit. He had a racecourse gallop recently, but he is a massive horse and there is no doubt he will need the run after such a long time off. Hopefully, he comes out of today in one piece and then we can take it from there.

Best of luck to his owner/breeder Bjorn Nielsen. Pictured below at Royal Ascot, ridden by George Baker.
