6 runners over the weekend at Ascot & York

We have had a fairly quiet week runners wise and we now head in to the weekend with six exciting runners. We have the following three runners at Ascot today:

First up is Blackheath who lines up in The International at 2.25pm under Luke Morris. He has been in great form since Newmarket and I’m really looking forward to seeing him run today. His draw shouldn’t be a problem, but really it comes down to pace and hopefully there will be plenty on our side. He has a nice low weight and I’m hopeful of a big run from him today.

Dreamweaver is next at 4.10pm in the Class 3 Handicap over 1m4f with Luke on board again. This horse has been in tremendous form since his easy win at Haydock and I just hope the rain stays away as we know he doesn’t like soft ground. He will be facing 3yo’s which can make it difficult as they get a lot of weight at this time of year but I think he could run really well.

Our last runner of the day will be Temple Bruer who makes his Handicap debut here today under Tom Marquand. He is really fresh and well and on his form he looks to have a decent chance and hopefully he proves to be more straight forward than he showed last time. It’s a stiff 7f so it will be very interesting to see if he stays.

We then head back to Ascot tomorrow, with Bright Eyed Eagle (pictured) our first runner of the day at 12.45pm who lines up under Oisin Murphy. He is well in himself and is back over 10f today. I think the stiff galloping nature of Ascot will really suit him and I’m hoping for a good run today after a disappointing run last time at Windsor where I don’t think he got home. It is a very warm Handicap and a bit of rain would put the ground spot on for him.

Mountain Peak is next at 1.55pm and Ryan Moore takes the ride this time. This horse is an absolute star and keeps pulling more out of the bag with each run. He won't want too much rain so I will be keeping an eye on the conditions, but if the ground is OK for him then this race seems winable on paper so fingers crossed.

Finally, Jonah Jones runs in the Class 2 Handicap over 6f at York under Frankie Dettori at 2.45pm. He is looking fabulous and I have been very happy with him since Ascot. I think the flat and sharp nature of York's 6f will really suit him and it is great that Frankie takes the ride on him today. Very hopeful of a big run from him today.
