A busy Saturday with 7 runners and Apprentice Hannah has her first ride

We have a busy and exciting day ahead with 7 runners heading to post across three meetings, all with decent chances. It is an especially big day for our Apprentice Hannah Fraser who has her first ride at Doncaster where she partners Laurence Bellman's Starfighter. Hannah joined the team in October 2018 after graduating from The British Racing School with the goal of getting her licence out and has worked very hard to achieve this. Starfighter is an ideal partner for Hannah on her debut ride in public and Laurence, who is a huge supporter of young and up-and-coming jockey’s, has generously handed her the reins today. We will all be cheering them home later today!

See below Ed's thoughts on todays runners:

Doncaster:

Blackheath (4pm) came out of his very disappointing run at Ascot very well and he lost both front shoes that day which may be a valid excuse for his poor run. This looks a good spot for him here today and he’s only 2lbs higher than when winning at Yarmouth and I’m confident that he could defy that and run a big race.

Jonah Jones (4.35pm) is really fresh and happy and his last piece of work was very good. I hope he can get back on track after the disappointment of his last run at York and the forecast rain will make conditions suitable for him. I’m hoping this nice horse can get back on track here today.

Starman (5.05pm) has been in great form since his winning debut. This looks to be a tough race and he’s going to have to run to a very high level to win with his 7lb penalty, but I believe he is a good horse and takes his chance against some smart types.

Starfighter (6.10pm)is in as good a form as ever and is on a workable mark having won off the same mark at Salisbury last year. My apprentice Hannah Fraser has her first ride on him here today and it looks a good spot for them both.

Newbury:

Bright Eyed Eagle (4.45pm) has been working well at home. This looks a wide open race but the softer ground should suit so fingers crossed he gets back to winning ways.

Coconut (5.20pm) is really well and I think she is improving all the time. She has been knocking on the door in her last few runs and really deserves to get her head in front today. I think she will run a big race.

Chepstow:

Monash (6.30pm) has been in good form since his very disappointing run three weeks ago at Pontefract. I think coming back in trip will really suit and his recent work would suggest he is much speedier than I first gave him credit for. He has really sharpened up with racing and I wouldn’t be surprised if this trip was spot on for him so I am hoping for a big run.
