Thursday at Newbury

After a quiet start to the week the weather has cooled down and we have 5 runners at our local track Newbury.

Star Sprite and Perfect Prophet go head to head in the 2yo Maiden at 6.38pm. Star Sprite has been working well and is ready to make her debut. I am a bit disappointed to be drawn 1 as being on a wing is never that helpful but hopefully Saffie can get her into a decent position and she can run a race full of promise. Perfect Prophet I am looking forward to seeing make her debut at Newbury today and I am hoping that she shows plenty of promise having been doing so in her work. She is going to benefit for stepping up in trip there is no doubt but this is a nice starting point and Ross Coakley knows her well from riding her at home.

Shabano runs in the 7.08pm under Ross Coakley. He has been in very good form at home and I am hoping that he will behave better at Newbury than he did at Kempton in which case I would expect him to run a solid race.

Above It All lines up in the 8.08pm. I am really looking forward to seeing him back on a level track and I am hoping Richard can get a good tune out of him. It looks an open race and on his Wolverhampton and Haydock form he should be hard to beat.

Shibuya Song heads to post in the 8.38pm Handicap. This looks a wide open fillies handicap and a good spot for her. I am thrilled to have Hollie back on board so hopefully on a more galloping track and stepping up half a furlong in trip she can get her head in front.

Best of luck to connections this evening. Pictured below, the gorgeous Perfect Prophet.
